Nor’west Optimist Park

Located at 48 Hawthorn Road in North-west London, Nor’west Optimist Park is super cute and knows how to build a themed playground.

The Treehouse – big playground

Today we took advantage of the reprieve of crazy hot weather and visited a park that doesn’t have a water feature but was a favourite of my kids when we stumbled upon it last year.

Nor’west Optimist has a big kid playground and a toddler playground, 4 standard swings and two baby swings (all wood chip ground cover).

There is no parking lot specifically for the park, however it is located directly beside Emily Carr public school so you can park there when school is out.

The big playground here is treehouse themed from the hut platform structure to the faux tree and logs you can use to climb up. there are two slides, monkey bars, ladders and also a set of stairs to use to get onto the structure. There’s also a cute leaf bride kids can walk across, and a rope climbing frame.

The toddler playground is pretty easily manageable by little ones if they use the stairs. In fact I have a video (somewhere) of my youngest climbing up here last year when she was just one. There is a “leaf” ladder that also climbs up to the main platform that some small ones might need assistance with.

There are 3 slides some built in musical features and a big clear looking glass, which my little ones thought was hilarious. I spent a good few minutes having to stand on the other side while they said “I see you through my magnifying glass”.

Behind the park is a large field of green space that is a valley. The kids always have fun rolling down one side to run up the other and start all over again. It’s a great way to burn off energy. It also looks like it would make a great place to go tobogganing in the winter.

Fun rolling down the hill.

There are trees around the playground, but the larger trees are set a little bit back and the trees near to the benches are still young.

Definitely a fun playground to visit, my kids get a kick out of the treehouse theme of it all and most the times that we have been it hasn’t been too busy.
